We're nominated for Guelph's #OakTree2016

How can we have a positive impact on the economy & the future workforce? Give youth relevant information and insights!

How it works? CEC is 1 of 20 Guelph charities nominated for the Oak Tree Project. 1 out of 20 charities will receive $5,000 to fund their volunteer based initiative. The winner is selected based off a combination of the number of nominations received and the judging panel’s review of the stories submitted. Please help us win by submitting your nomination today. We need as many nominations as possible. Please share why you think our work matters or how CEC has personally helped you.

Our Oak Tree Initiative

Our application to the Oak Tree Project is based on the proverb, “It takes a village...”  With the support of Oak Tree, the CEC would have the resources we need to coordinate a volunteer base of workshop facilitators, career speakers and career mentors.

By providing relevant information and mentorship to youth, this program will add value to the local economy and community.  Exposure to current labour market information as well as the guidance and insights from volunteers will assist youth in pursuing a path that leads to meaningful employment after graduation and will also contribute to the solution for workforce gaps and shortages.

Just imagine all the ways that everyone will win when we work together to surround youth with the caring guidance and insights of career professionals from our community!  We simply do not have the resources to build this program without community support. Knowing what a positive impact this will have on youth, we are working hard to make growing this volunteer initiative possible. Help us to enhance the employment prospects of your students, your child(ren) or neighbourhood youth by voting to support the CEC’s volunteer initiative today!

Youth need insights & information to make sound choices about education, employment and careers.
